airouan is a town occupying a central position in the Tunisian territory.

As the first Muslim city of Northern Africa, Kairouan extended its cultural and scientific influence, as early as the IXth century, to the outermost bounds of Europe and Asia.

In addition to the historical and spiritual significance that Kairouan reveals throughout the medina and its remparts, the number of its mosques and mausoleums, the visitor discovers in it a city of arts and handicrafts that bear the mark of originality and authenticity bequeathed by the city's founding fathers, and which the present inhabitants, as worthy heirs, have succeeded in preserving.
